On December 9, 2022, an event on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day was held in DK Boris Hristov, Plovdiv. Guests at the event were representatives of various ethnic communities in the city. The partners from the Foundation for Regional Development Roma – Plovdiv presented the content of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to the participants, and the youth from BCHK-Plovdiv made a presentation on International Humanitarian Law and the basic rules of the Geneva Conventions.
For the finale of the event, a musical and artistic program was performed. Young people from the dance formation “Lazare” led by Yordan Kostov performed “Pirinsky Games” and “Ginovski Dance”, and children from the dance group of the “Dimitar Geshev” community center in the Stolipinovo district led by Yulia Atanasova presented a choreography combining modern and oriental dance.
Music, dance and art in general are embedded in a large part of the planned activities, where, with the inclusion of representatives of different ethnicities, the similarities between people will be sought, rather than the differences, which will contribute to the achievement of the project’s great goal, namely raising the level of acceptance of the Roma and countering discrimination.
